Decorating for a Pittance

In my early married years I became enamored with anything old,be it country, victorian or just collectible. I soon became discouraged at ever being a collector as I  perused antique shops with their high prices that didn't fit into a young family"s budget.
So then, to satisfy my collecting urge I decided I would collect just one type of item and being a Pennsylvania farmgirl decided upon chickens. My next dilemma was to find them at a reasonable price..I was about to embark on a lifelong excursion into every thriftstore and junkshop,(the junkier the better) which crossed my path or more accurately put, whose path I crossed.
Needless to say I collected only a few chickens but have managed to beautifully furnish my whole home with terasures I could never have afforded.
My most recent treasure is an oil painting of Yosemite in the  style after the famous painter Thomas Hill. I sent a photo and description to Bonham's and Butterfield in San Francisco and the appraisal was between 1200 and 1500. I paid a whopping 18.00 for that find.Whoopee!!!
